Li Pengde Attended 20th UNRCC-AP and Elected as UN-GGIM-AP Secretary

The 20th United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference for Asia and the Pacific (UNRCC-AP) and the 4th Plenary Meeting of the Regional Committee of United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia and the Pacific (UN-GGIM-AP) were held from 6 - 10 October 2015 in Jeju Island, Korea.

Dr. Li Pengde, as President of the 19th UNRCC-AP, opened the Conference, welcoming the about 300 official delegates and observers from the member countries, United Nations and international organizations. As President of the UN-GGIM-AP for 2012-2015, Dr. Li Pengde reported the major activities of the Committee in the past three years. Focusing on the theme of “Geospatial Information for the Global Development Agenda”, invited keynote papers were presented from global, regional and national perspectives. The participants shared the technologies, experience and practices on the topics of Geodetic Reference Frame, Disaster Risk Management, Regional SDI, and Cadastre and Land Management. The Conference adopted six resolutions in closing.

At the 4th Plenary Meeting of UN-GGIM-AP, Dr. Hiroshi Murakami, Director General, Dept. of Planning, Geospatial Information Authority of Japan, was elected as President of UN-GGIM-AP for the term of 2015-2018. Dr. Choe ByongNam, President of National Geographic Information Institute of Korea, and Mr. Khurelshagai Ayurzana, Director General of Administration of Land Affairs, Geodesy and Cartography of Mongolia were elected as Vice Presidents. Dr. Li Pengde, Deputy Director General of National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation of China (NASG) was elected as Secretary of UN-GGIM-AP.
