NASG Delegation Participated in the 23rd ISPRS Congress
The 23rd Congress of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) was held from July 12-19, 2016 in Prague, Czech Republic. With the theme of “From Human History to the Future with Spatial Information", the Congress had 3 Plenary Sessions, 4 General Assemblies, 60 Technical Sessions, 18 Theme Sessions, 18 Special Sessions, 2 Forums and 6 Interactive Sessions. About 2300 participants from 88 countries attended the Congress.
The delegation organized by the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation of China (NASG), together with the Chinese Society for Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation (CSSMG), participated in the Congress. Nominated by NASG and CSSMG, Prof. Chen Jun, Chief Scientist, National Geomatics Center of China (NGCC) was elected as ISPRS First Vice President for 2016-2020; and Dr. Jiang Jie, Division Director of NGCC, was elected as the first female ISPRS Fellow and also President of ISPRS Technical Commission III (Remote Sensing) for 2016-2020. Dr. Wang Chunfeng, NASG Deputy Director General, gave a presentation at the first ISPRS-UN-GGIM National Mapping and Cadastral Agency Forum. The Wang Zhizhuo Award, sponsored by CSSMG, was presented at the Congress. In addition, more than ten Chinese enterprises and institutions participated in the Congress as exhibiters.
ISPRS is a leading international organization in remote sensing, photogrammetry and spatial information sciences. The quadrennial Congress strengthens relations among the researchers, professionals and representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations thus enhancing the co-operation within the field. The next ISPRS Congress will be held in 2020 at Nice, France.
