The in-orbit ZY-3 02 Satellite Officially Delivered to NASG
The in-orbit ZY-3 02 Satellite was officially delivered to the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation (NASG) by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense at a ceremony held on December 28, 2016 at NASG. Thus, two civilian stereo mapping satellites have been put into operation.
The ZY-3 02 Satellite was successfully launched on May 30, 2016. The in-orbit satellite test results show that it is fully able to meet the accuracy requirements for 1:50,000 stereo mapping and 1:25,000 map revision and updating according to the specifications for image data production and as verified by mapping tests. With both the ZY-3 01 and ZY-3 02 operating in orbit, the global coverage will be realized in half of the time needed before, the revisit cycle will shortened to three days instead of five days, the imaging efficiency will be doubled, and the data acquisition capacity and quality will be greatly improved.
NASG will continue to accelerate the demonstration and project approval process for ZY-3 03 and 04 satellites to ensure the succession of keeping two ZY-3 satellites in orbit.
