Wuhan University Celebrated 60th Anniversary of its Surveying and Mapping Discipline
A grand event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the surveying and mapping discipline of Wuhan University was held on October 22, 2017. Top experts and scholars in the surveying and mapping fields from both home and abroad gathered at the foot of the Luojia Hill in Wuhan and discussed on the development of the discipline.
Among the attendees were Kurexi Maihesuti, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land and Resources and Director General of the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation (NASG); Guo Shenglian, Vice Governor of Hubei Province, Li Xiaohong, President of Wuhan University; Chen Junyong, Xu Houze, Li Deren, Ning Jinsheng, Wei Ziqing, Gao Jun, Yao Zhenxing, Liu Jingnan, Wang Jiayao, Yang Yuanxi, Gong Jianya, Li Jiancheng and Guo Renzhong, Members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Harald Schuh, President of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG); Christian Heipke, President of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS); Menno-Jan Kraak, President of the International Cartographic Association (ICA); Armin Gruen, Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences; Gerard Lachapelle, Member of the Canadian Academy of Engineering; Kim Johan Holmen, Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences; representatives from relevant professional organizations, renowned international experts, domestic and overseas alumni, representatives from brother universities, as well as former leaders and teacher and student representatives of the University.
Nine world-famous scholars made presentations and shared the latest research results and experience at the Seminar on Surveying and Mapping Discipline Development, one of the series of activities of the celebration event.
