China allocates a special fund for basic aerial photogrammetry. Currently, China owns over 5 million aerial images, covering over 80% of the total land territory. Multi-resolution satellite images cover over 70 million square kilometers (including overlapping coverage), realizing cross coverage of all land areas by multi-resolution and multi-temporal satellite remote sensing images. Satellite images with their resolution ranging from 10 to 30m acquired through multiple channels and multiple methods cover the entire territory of China, and the satellite images with their resolution less than 5m cover all key areas. China has built an up-to-date national orthographic image database with 1m or 2.5m resolution. To further promote the capability of rapid acquisition, since 2012, China has gradually adopted the important remote sensing image acquisition means such as “ZY-3” surveying & mapping satellite and UAV aerial photogrammetry. As of the end of 2012, “ZY-3” surveying & mapping satellite had received a total of 225TB data, covering 12.5 million square kilometers in China and 54.5 million square kilometers across the world.
